What is a Cookie Notice?
By law, if your site or sites that you are linked to use cookies, it is required that you notify your web visitors that tracking technology is being used and the reason for such usage. According to www.allaboutcookies.org, Cookies are "small files which are stored on a user's computer. They are designed to hold a modest amount of data specific to a particular client and website, and can be accessed either by the web server or the client computer." Cookies usually don't contain much information except for the url of the website that created the cookie, the duration of the cookie's abilities and effects, and a random number. The Cookie Law is a piece of privacy legislation that requires websites to get consent from visitors to store or retrieve any information on their electronic devices.
Example of a Cookie Notice:
Our website uses a number of cookies to improve your experience when using the website. We also use analytics cookies to monitor how people use the website, with a view to making improvements and making the site more useful.
How does this all work?
When a visitor visits your website for the first time, a "cookie" notice will pop up alerting them that your site uses cookies. After the user clicks the link a cookie is stored on their computer so the message doesn’t display again. You can also let the message disappear automatically after a few seconds. In that case it will be displayed each time the user visits the website. The following packages comes with a Cookie Notice if applicable.
